The (EIA in Garmian) workshop

With the presence of the Academic staff in the university of Garmian. the Building and Construction Engineering Department has hosted a workshop entitled " Environmental impact assessment (EIA) in Kurdistan - Garmyan ",

The Aim of the workshop

1- the study of important of environmental impact for each project was a

government sector or the private sector

2- Legislative and legal framework existing in Kurdistan

3- Environmental Impact Assessment for projects

4- A study of some projects in Garmiaan


The Workshop, covered the following topics

1- Introduction to( EIA) definitions: which was presented by Mr. Hunar Ali

2- The procedure of (EIA) report preparation: which was presented by Mr. Niyaz Fadhil

3- (EIA) in Garmian: which was presented by Eng. Noor Ahmed


Benefits of EIA

-Increases the economic and social benefits and the protection of human health, all that by :

-A more environmentally sustainable design.

-Adherence to best standards.

-Savings in capital and operating costs.

-Avoid subsequent amendments.

-Reducing health costs.

-Increasing acceptance of the project locally and internationally.


Discussion and recommendations

Display of previous projects in the region is clear to us the importance and the need to self-assess the environmental impact of each project was for the government sector or the private sector due to these projects from environmental effects on human health, animal and plant.

It is necessary to find solutions to these projects that are in violation of the legislation issued by the Improvement Protection and Environmental board.

You can solve the sewage problem in Kalar and Rizgari by the establishment of wastewater treatment plants

-Project collection and landfill in Kalar.

To solve the problem of collection and landfill in Kalar There are a number of solutions

1-follow instructions Environment Directorate in Kalar.

2-Waste Recycling.

-Hospitals and health centers waste.

The medical liquid and solid wastes from hospitals, and the environmental pollution caused by, these residues from the dangers of catastrophic to humans, agriculture and soil if not disposed of the right ways.
