Building and Construction Engineering Department was established in University of Garmian since the year 2013. Building and Construction Engineering Department at University of Garmian prepares students for a degree in Building and Construction Engineering. The graduated engineers from this department will have sufficient skills and knowledge to work in designing and implementing most of the construction projects such as; construction of different kind and functions buildings, highways, water supply and sewerage systems, geotechnical structures and airports.

Building and Construction Engineering includes the following sub disciplines: structural and construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, environmental engineering and water supply and water treatment engineering.

The department is committed to improve the quality of the population life in Kurdistan Region and in particular in Garmian Area through applying researches conducted by the staff and the students, the seminars and workshops presented in cooperation with the Governmental Departments in the city, and also through the field engineers who graduated from the department.

Department Mission:

Building and Construction Engineering is concerned with planning, design, construction of facilities and projects which are essential and important for a modern life. Building and Construction Engineers are planning, designing and implementing the projects which solve the problems and covering the community’s needs in the areas of constructions, transportation, infrastructures, environment and pollution.

The Department of Building and Construction Engineering strives to graduate highly qualified engineers with wide and rich theoretical and practical knowledge which make them able to provide the best services to their communities.


Department Vision:

The vision of Building and Construction Engineering Department is to educate our students to be prepared for careers in which they can contribute and participate in different parts and types of projects (construction of facilities, transportation systems, improving the environment and infrastructures) that enhance and improve the quality of life of Kurdistan citizens. We do this by providing students with the skills and tools necessary to understand the physical world, to apply this understanding to current and future needs of society and to responsibly and ethically address the impacts that engineered systems can have on a community and its environment.
